Things to see and do

Overlooking a magnificent black sand surf beach, Opunake sits on Surf Highway 45 and is known as the “Home of the Big Wave”. Along with being a great place to host a beach carnival, Opunake and the surrounding region offers a range of other great things to see and do. There is a challenging 18 hole golf course, cafes, fishing, walking and tramping, a heated pool and a boutique movie theatre to name a few. So why not stay a few days and enjoy this little piece of "Taradise!"
